COURS DE 3eme BACHELIER

COURS DE 2eme DOCTORAT

Current research topic:

Virulence factors of pathogenic Escherichia coli strains: their role in the development of the disease, their molecular biology and their genetic determinism. Researchprojects on EnteroPathogenic/EnteroHemorrhagic strains (EPEC/EHEC) (Grant from the Ministery of Agriculture) and on NecroToxigenic strains (NTEC) (FAIR Shared-Cost project)
Immunological and genetic diagnosis and identification and virulence factors of mycoplasmas in animals.
Resaerchproject on the virulence factors of the respiratory mycoplasmas in cattle (Grant from the Ministery of Agriculture).
Epidemiology of the pathogenic bacteria and of their virulence plasmids or pathogenicity islands using molecular biology and genetic techniques.

Keywords:

Veterinary bacteriology, Genetics of the bacterial virulence, PLasmidology, Molecular epidemiology, Escherichia coli, Mycoplasma.

Materials:

The laboratory is fully equipped for: classical diagnosis of aerobic and anaerobic bacteria (anaerobic incubator), molecular genetics (PCR, Pulse-field electrophoresis, DNA-DNA hybridization, Gel photopgraphy with PC, DNA sequencing...), protein study (electrophoresis...).

The laboratory is also equipped with six Macintosh computers for personnal use, and two PC compatible (for the API sugar set reading and for the gel photography and analysis.

International Connections:

1. In Escherichia coli: area:

    a) Four other laboratories are partners in the FAIR shared-cost project CT96-1335 on the Epidemiology and pathogenesis of necrotoxigenic E. coli (NTEC), of which our laboratory is coordinator:
    • Laboratoire associé-INRA de Microbiologie Moléculaire de l'Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire de Toulouse (FRANCE) (Drs J De Rycke et E Oswald);
